Annapurna

The goodness of harvests name itself makes it clear that it has a magnificent appearance. Anna means food and Purna means fullness .It has taken place on the 10th highest mountain in the world. It describes the range of mountains, but its beauty makes it so imaginary that we get lost in it’s presence. It tells the stories of nature: you feel relaxed rejoicing in the lap of Annapurna, you forget everything, and you are happy in its lap, which is why people have dreams in life to see Annapurna.

It is located in the Gandaki Province, in the north-central region of Nepal, within the Annapurna mountain range. It forms a ridge some 30 miles (48 km) long between the gorges of the Kali (Kali Gandaki; west) and Marsyandi (east) rivers north of the town of Pokhara. Its parent peak is Cho Oyu. The massif contains four main summits, two of which-Annapurna I (26,545 feet [8,091 meters]) and Annapurna II (26,040 feet [7,937 meters])—stand at the western and eastern ends of the range, respectively; Annapurna III (24,786 feet [7,555 meters]) and Annapurna IV (24,688 feet [7,525 meters]) lie between them.

Although climbers had reached 28,150 feet (8,580 meters) on Mount Everest by 1924, Annapurna I became famous in 1950 as the first peak above 26,000 feet (8,000 meters) to be ascended to the summit. The feat was achieved by a French expedition led by Maurice Herzog, who, with Louis Lachenal, reached the top on June 3. Annapurna IV was climbed on May 30, 1995, by German team of Harald Biller, Heinz Steinmetz, and Jurgen Wellenkamp; and Annapurna II was climbed on  May 17, 1960, by the British climbers Richard Grant and Chris Bonington and the Sherpa Ang Nyima in an expedition led by James O.M. Roberts. In 1970, an all-women Japanese climbing team scaled Annapurna III—an article by John M. Cunningham

Acme Adventure Treks Pvt. Ltd aims to collect all real news and articles to give right information. Nepal Government has a project called The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in 1986 to achieve a balance between environmental conservation and socio-economic development through people’s participation. ACAP operates under the guidance of the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), formerly King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation (KMTNC).

Tourism is an important and fast-growing industry in the ACA, which is visited annually by more than 150,000 people. The land is fragile and its resources are under pressure due to human activities. NTNC-ACAP aims to explore the long-term potentials of tourism and development while minimizing its threats.

ACAP is well-known for being the first organization in the world to introduce Integrated Conservation and Development Projects (ICDP) as an important part of Protected Area (PA) management. Before this, people were seen as enemies of species and habitat conservation and PA’s were usually fenced off to keep people out and animals in. The new approach recognizes the importance of involving local people in the management of PA’s and in improving their living conditions. ACAP’s ICDP includes conservation (nature and cultural heritage), education, institutional development (local management committees), research, infrastructure (drinking water, trails, bridges, etc) and economic development (agriculture, animal husbandry, and tourism).
